The meeting was called to order at 7:05 p.m. by Debra Hammer.
The minutes from September 4, 2003 were reviewed and accepted.
Youth Advisory Board:
We have a need for more board members.
Debra Hammer was voted as Chair of the YAB, Matthew Daskal was voted the Vice Chair and Heather Zottola was voted secretary.
October 26th is the Crop Walk for hunger beginning at 1:00 p.m. This will raise money for food banks. Matthew will put up posters in the high school and solicit walkers.
Department of Youth Services Update:
The Underage Drinking Task Force grant was extended to use unused funds and will receive unused money from other towns.
Part-time therapist will be hired.
Barbara Ruhe will donate $300 out of $350 of will cost to the Youth Services budget. Debra Hammer will work on a brochure with Barbara.
Other Business:
Paul Clemens reports that Monster.com came to Wethersfield High School to talk to freshmen about good GPAs.
DCFS is having serious issues. The Community Child Protection movement would give towns power and money to handle issues.
