Chairperson Perry Cornwall welcomed Jim Bell to the meeting and asked him to explain the preliminary design plans for the Moeller Home. Mr. Bell brought the schematic plans for review by the Building Committee for the renovation of the Moeller Home. Mr. Bell reviewed the designs for the Moeller Home. He explained to Committee members the changes to the floor plan of the existing facilities and showed members the exterior look of the building with the addition of the new handicapped ramp. Committee members were pleased with the preliminary design and felt it accomplished the needs for the Nature Center. A question was raised on the generator that is currently on the grounds at the Nature Center. Mr. Maisano, Engineer from LMG will be evaluating the generator to see if it is in working order. The possibility exists to use it for the Nature Center. Mr. Bell asked town staff to determine the scope of plans necessary for submittal to Planning and Zoning Commission. Town staff will get back to Mr. Bell on what is required for submission. A discussion was held on the need for parking lot lights at Moeller Home. Currently, the parking lot exists, but there are no parking lot lights for that area. Town staff will look into requirements for the lights in the parking lot. Also, a question came up regarding installation of a sprinkler system. Town staff will research this issue with the appropriate officials.
Committee members did a walk through of the building and related the new renovation plans to the existing facility. Committee members felt that the preliminary design was appropriate for the building and gave Mr. Bell the go ahead to begin the formal design plans.
No new business was discussed at this time.
