Town of Wethersfield Committee on Culture and the Arts
Minutes of the February 9, 2004 Meeting
Members Present: Mary-Beth Dobmeier, Rita Doyle, Karen Gove, Heidi Lane, Francis Patti, Ruth Schumaker and Patricia Viani.
The meeting was called to order at 7:20 p.m.
A motion was made by Pat Viani to accept the minutes of February 9, 2004 with one spelling correction, Emily Kissel (Leisure Services, Town of Bloomfield). Seconded by Fran Patti.
There will be a Treasurer's Report at the next meeting.
New Business:
- Karen Nichols, Executive Assistant, Connecticut River Community Bank, was invited to the meeting. She presented the committee with a check in the amount of $2,600 to fund our summer concert series.
- Karen Nichols will contact Kathy Bagley, Parks and Rec. Director, for the dimensions of the showmobile for the placement of the bank's banner on the front of the showmobile. Ruth will be the contact person for publicity of the concerts. All publicity will encompass the bank's logo and the bank will receive copies of all publicity material.
- Pat Viani will send a letter to Town Manager, Bonnie Therrien, notifying her of the $2,600 donation. We will need funding for a cabaret night at the Community Center, publicity and possibly a St. Patrick's Day event.
- Heidi Lane will contact Mr. Olsen for the possibility of having the Glamour Girls perform at a cabaret night at the Community Center on October 16, 2004. Heidi will find out the cost to be submitted for budget purposes. Another possibility is Tony Allen.
- A special thanks to Mary-Beth who was instrumental in obtaining sponsorship from the bank.
- Pat received a call from Enzo Boscarino who has a group that performs at Mario's in Rocky Hill. Pat told him that our summer concert series is already scheduled for this year. She gave him Cindy Brown's name at the Historical Society. Pat also received a call from a Gina from Cubed Squared which is a full entertainment service (a possibility for next summer).
Old Business:
- Heidi reported that Sabrina Mollica would be this year's recipient of our scholarship. Sabrina performed in "Godspell" at the high school and has a wonderful voice. The June 14the meeting will be held at Ruth's home, 15 Raynor Lane. Heidi will invite Sabrina to attend this meeting.
Miscellaneous:
- Rita has a letter of resignation dated April 1, 2003 from Donna Schwartz.
The meeting adjourned at 7:50 p.m.
The next meeting will be held on Monday, May 10 at 7:00 p.m. in the Employee Lounge, Town Hall. Please call Pat, 563-3996 or Rita, 529-7920, if you do not plan on attending the meeting.
