The meeting was called to order at 7:10 P.M.

Present - Pat Viani, Heidi Lane, Anne Eisenman, Jean Ciotto, Ruth Ann Schumaker, Sandy Mulcahy and Mary-Beth Dobmeier

NEW BUSINESS

Treasurer's Report - Sandy reported that we have $2802 in the general fund and $6227 in the escrow account. The $2600 check from the bank has been deposited. We have $530 in the scholarship account and will give a $500 scholarship this year. We received a $100 donation from UNICO.

We need to send a check for $2200 to Archie D'Amato Associates for the concerts on 7/13, 7/20 and 7/27. Angelo Arcario of No Shame band would like the $400 check at the end of the performance.

Publicity Committee - Jean is helping Ruth Ann with publicity. Ruth Ann is thinking about a newspaper ad to advertise the summer concert series. She will contact The Rare Reminder, Wethersfield Post, Wethersfield Life and The Hartford Courant to find out about advertising. Heidi suggested that Ruth Ann contact Elaine St Onge at the Historical Society as she does this for them and has the names of all of the contact people.

Pat reminded the publicity committee that the bank's name and logo have to be on all advertising. The bank is working on a banner to hang on the showmobile.

Anne will check on advertising the concerts on the public access scroller.

Secretary's Report - In Rita's absence Pat gave the secretary's report. She got a letter from Cubed Square who is interested in doing programming for us. Rita will respond and will let them know that we already have Barbara Belmont doing programming for us and we are pleased with her work.

Pat is looking for a volunteer to go through the mail and contact the various places with our current address. Anne volunteered to do this.

Scholarship Committee - Heidi reported that she spoke with Karl Kumme and he wants someone from the committee to come and present the award. Sandy said that she would make out the check to the school that the recipient is attending. Heidi will check back with Mr. Kumme for the name of the school. A presentation date has not been decided on but Heidi will go present the award.

Heidi spoke to Sabrina Mollica, the scholarship award winner and asked is she was interested in attending our June meeting. Sabrina had not been told that she had been awarded the scholarship but was thrilled with the news. She will get back to Heidi on whether she can attend the next meeting.

OLD BUSINESS

The subject of having a children's concert was raised. The consensus was that the last time we had one the material wasn't suitable for children and some residents objected to it being billed as a children's concert. We probably won't be doing one soon.

Heidi reported on her research regarding having a Cabaret Night at the community center on 10/16. She found that The Glamour Girls will play for 2 to 4 hours and their fee is $1250-$1500. They will perform without their band and will use a CD instead for half price. Heidi played a portion of their CD and all thought it was very good.

We do have extra funds because of the bank's sponsorship of the summer concert series. A discussion ensued regarding custodial fees when the community center is rented. There were many different opinions on how this works. Pat will check on this and will report her findings at the next meeting.

The next meeting will be held at Ruth Ann's home on 6/14 at 7 P.M. She lives at 15 Raynor Lane (right off of the Broad St. green) and her phone number is 563-4229. We will have cold drinks, appetizers and desserts. Committee members signed up to bring the following:

Heidi - appetizer
Anne - dessert
Pat - fruit
Jean - appetizer
Sandy - Vegetables
Mary-Beth - dessert

The meeting was adjourned at 7:50 P.M.

Respectfully Submitted:

Mary-Beth Dobmeier
