New Business:
- Pat passed around correspondence that she has received. She asked for volunteers to notify organizations that our address is 505 Silas Highway (Town Hall). We have a mail box located in the mail room which Pat checks regularly.
- Rita will provide a list of meetings dates for the upcoming year. The October meeting will be held on Tuesday, October 12 due to the Columbus Day holiday. All other meetings are held the second Monday of the month in the Employees Lounge at Town Hall except for the December meeting which will be held at Sandy's house and the June meeting which will be held at Ruth Ann's house.
- Karen is in charge of the October 23rd Cabaret featuring the Glamour Girls. Karen said it was her understanding that the custodial fee for the Community Center that evening will be $387...$180 for 6 hours on Saturday (5:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.) and $207 for Sunday. Upon further discussion, Karen will ask Kathy Bagley regarding the $207 for Sunday. In the past the Committee has not paid anything for Sunday. We have the alcohol permit and ice will be furnished.
- Ruth Ann passed around a poster for our approval. We will receive posters at the October 12 meeting which will be placed at various locations throughout the Town. Ruth Ann will contact the Rare Reminder for publicity and Jeanne will contact the Hartford Courant. Robin will have an announcement placed in the Emerson Williams newsletter. She will contact other schools to see if they will do the same.
- Pat spoke to Cindy Brown from the Historical Society regarding the concerts at the Keeney Center. Mrs. Keeney provided a grant for such events which cannot be held in conjunction with another Town committee. Their concerts will be held on Tuesdays in August.
- Discussion ensued regarding next year's summer concert series. Tony Allen and Moxie will be considered. Karen will contact Moxie and report back at the next meeting. We also have to decide if we want to continue with Prism Marketing as we have in the past.
- Mary-Beth and Robin volunteered to contact businesses in Town regarding sponsorship. Jeanne will contact the Chamber. This will be done in early 2005. Our 2004 summer concert series was sponsored by the Connecticut River Community Bank which donated $2,600.
Old Business:
- A letter was received from the 94th Army Band which Rita read. A thank you letter will be sent to them. Their concert was excellent.
- Pat asked if there were any comments regarding the concerts. Ruth Ann received complaints regarding the loudness of No Shame Band. Their technical support had problems with the sound. All agreed that the British Beat were especially good.
The meeting adjourned at 8:30 p.m. The next meeting will be held on October 12, 2004 at 7:00 p.m. in the Employees Lounge at Town Hall.
Respectfully submitted:
Rita T. Doyle, Secretary
