Darcie Roy, of Barlo Signs presented an application to install four (4) new wall mounted, internally illuminated, red channel letter signs and to replace one existing ground sign as follows:
Ms. Roy noted that the building has 183 feet of street frontage. The applicant proposed a total of 122.8 s.f. of wall signage which falls within the 125 s.f. they are allowed under Section 6.3.F.2 of the Wethersfield Zoning Regulations. The applicant proposed a total of 23.6 s.f. of ground signage. Denise Bradley commented that in accordance with Section 6.3.F.2 of the Wethersfield Zoning Code, the applicant is allowed a maximum of 125 s.f. of wall signage and in accordance with Section 6.3.F.4.b, the applicant is allowed a maximum 32 s.f. of ground signage. Chairman Bockstael noted that the application conforms to all requirements and asked if there was anyone who wished to comment. Commissioner Hallinan mentioned that having the building occupied after being dormant for quite some time, was the first step in the right direction. Chairman Bockstael asked Ms. Roy if the design and materials for the proposed signage was a corporate norm. Ms. Roy responded that it was. There being no further discussion, Commissioner Hallinan motioned to approve the application as submitted. Commissioner Hickey seconded and all voted in favor.
There was no one in attendance representing the applicant to present the application. Denise Bradley described the applicants proposed activities to install one (1) new 124 s.f. wall mounted sign that consists of red, internally illuminated channel letters. The building has 62 feet of street frontage and no freestanding sign is proposed. Ms. Bradley noted that the proposed signage is in conformance with Section 6.3.F.2 of the Wethersfield Zoning Regulations. Chairman Bockstael asked for comments. There being none, Commissioner Boyle made a motion to approve the application as submitted. Commissioner Margiotta seconded and all voted in favor.
A brief discussion ensued regarding the appointment of a member of the Design Review Advisory Commission to attend meetings of the Wethersfield Tourism Commission. It was determined that the Committee would designate a member to attend the meetings as they are scheduled.
