Town of Wethersfield Committee on Culture and the Arts
Minutes of the February 15, 2005 Meeting
Members Present: Joan Biagioni, Rita Doyle, Karen Gove, Heidi Lane, Sandra Mulcahy, Frances Patti, Ruth Ann Schumaker and Patricia Viani.
The meeting was called to order at 7:10 p.m. A motion was made by Pat to accept the minutes of January 10, 2005. Seconded by Fran.
Pat received some mail which she shared with the committee. A card was sent by the Chamber of Commerce regarding their 40th Anniversary Dance/Fundraiser scheduled for April 30, 2005. Pat also received a request to perform from TNT Jazz Ensemble from East Haven; a brochure and CD from the Slides Trombone Ensemble who performs for a price of $720; a brochure from Encore Performing Arts, Inc. of Wappinger Falls, New York (their Island Calypso Trio sounds intriguing). If our schedule is not complete, we will contact some of these groups.
TREASURER'S REPORT:
There was nothing new to report from our Treasurer, Sandy. There is a $1400 balance in the General Fund. A deposit of $100 was sent to Shaw Productions for the Glamour Girls...$550 is due and a check will be drawn for that amount.
NEW BUSINESS:
- Pat spoke to Vincent Roccaro whose band will perform Bobby Darin songs on July 26 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. for a fee of $1200. Pat will give Mr. Roccaro a check the night of the concert. A motion was made to accept this group and seconded. Motion passed.
- Joyce Rossignol called Pat. She will be glad to advertise the April 22nd Caberet featuring the Glamour Girls in the Wethersfield Life. Ruth Ann will drop of pictures to her. Joyce's e-mail is joycer@ntplx.net.
- Barbara Belmont from Prism Marketing called Pat. Pat indicated that we are pretty well set with our summer concert series.
- Heidi will be Scholarship Chairman this year. She will contact Karl Kumme at the High School. The scholarship is for $500.
OLD BUSINESS:
- Jeanne will contact the Chamber of Commerce to see if they want to help with a donation. She will report back at the next meeting.
- Karen indicated that we are all set with the April 22 cabaret. The Community Center will bill us for their services. Ruth Ann has the postures read to go.
- Karen said that Moxie will be available on July 12 for a price of $700.
- Our summer concert schedule thus far:

The alternate rain site for the 94th Army Band will be the High School. Joan will contact the school to reserve that evening.
The meeting adjourned at 7:50 p.m.
The next meeting will take place on March 14 at 7:00 p.m. in the Conference Room next to the Town Manager's Office.
