Town of Wethersfield Committee on Culture and the Arts
Minutes of the April 11, 2005 Meeting

Members present: Joan Biagioni, Robin Bourassa, Jeanne Ciotto, Mary-Beth Dobmeier, Rita Doyle, Elizabeth Kirkpatrick, Francis Patti, Ruth Ann Schumaker and Patricia Viani.

The meeting was called to order at 7:10 p.m. A motion was made to accept the minutes of March 14, 2005 with the following corrections: Page 2, first line, delete first word--with; 2nd paragraph misspelling of Entertainment; and under Old Business, 2nd paragraph--Pat instead of Pal. Motion seconded to accept minutes with corrections.

Treasurer's Report:

In the absence of our treasurer, Sandy, Pat reported there was no change from last month's activity.

New Business:

• Pat received several pieces of mail which were passed around. Rita read a letter from Good Times Band, which could be considered for next year.
• A brochure and CD was received from the Digger Stevens Band. Liz will listen to it and report back at the next meeting. Also Robin will listen to Swing Time Quartet; Mary-Beth will listen to Jane Freeman-Full Gael (Irish music); Jeanne will listen to Dramatix Show Band and all will report back at next meeting.
• Jeanne reported that she contacted Mike Casparino at People's Bank and they have agreed to donate $500.
• Pat reported that UNICO will donate $100 again this year. All checks should be made out to WCCA-Escrow Account. Robin has been in contact with Webster Bank for a donation. She will keep us abreast of her progress.

Old Business:

• Pat Spoke to Laura Gallo, Wethersfield Health Care Center, regarding their donation of $2400. When a check is received, Bonnie Therrien, Town Manager, will be notified.
• All the posters for the April 22nd Cabaret featuring the Glamour Girls were distributed throughout Town. Pat will bring a basket for donations to the Scholarship Fund.
• Mary-Beth sent in the contract for Moxie. They will use the Solomon Welles house to change.
• The summer concerts series is as follows:

  July 5, 2005 - 94th Army Band (free concert) - (6:30 - 8:30 p.m.)

  July 26, 2005 - Vincent Roccaro Sings Bobby Darin ($1200) - (7:00 - 8:30 p.m.)

The meeting adjourned a 7:40 p.m. The next meeting will be May 9 at 7:00 p.m. in the Library Conference Room.
