Committee on Culture and the Arts Meeting Minutes

Members present: Rita Doyle, Elizabeth Kirkpatrick, and Patricia Viani.

The meeting was called to order at 7:05 p.m. A motion was made by Pat to accept the minutes of June 13. Motion seconded by Liz.

In the absence of Sandy, Pat reported that there were no changes since the last meeting. The Committee was given $1,000 by the Town for the coming fiscal year.

Pat received a resignation letter from Joan Biagioni dated September 7. She also received a call from Heidi Lane who also resigned. Heidi should send us a resignation letter so it can be passed on to our Town Clerk.
Pat received a letter dated June 20, 2005 from Town Manager, Bonnie Therrien, notifying us of the $1,000 contribution and telling us to keep up the good work.
Pat received a thank you note from the 94th Army Band.
Discussion ensued regarding the summer concert series which needs further input by all committee members. Attendance at the concerts has been down. Since there are so many other concert series in the surrounding towns and the Keeney Center during the summer, maybe we should concentrate on doing something during the fall, winter or spring at the Community Center.
Since we now have four vacancies, Liz brought up the idea that a better description of what the Committee does should be written up to attract new members.

The next meeting will be held on Monday, October 17 in the Library Conference Room at 7:00 p.m. Please plan on attend this important meeting.
