Emergency Medical Service Committee
Unapproved Meeting Minutes - March 9, 2006

1. Call to Order/Attendance

   The meeting was called to order at 6:33 PM. Karen Tomczyk, George Bashura, Ellen Layman and Assistant to the Town Manager, Rae Ann Palmer were in attendance.

2. Review of Committee Responsibilities

   A copy of the Town of Wethersfield Charter § 7-3 was provided to each Committee member, from which a discussion of the Committee's responsibilities ensued.

   After discussion, consensus was reached that the responsibility of the Committee was the oversight of ambulance service provision in the Town of Wethersfield. Specifically:

   • Contract Review
   • Coverage
   • Review of who responds
   • Review of response times

   It was noted that the responsibilities of the Committee did not include involvement in the management of the Wethersfield Volunteer Ambulance Association (WVAA).

   A copy of the contract between Aetna Ambulance, WVAA and the Town was provided for each member.

3. Meeting Schedule

   No long term meeting schedule was determined. The next meeting will be held on Thursday, March 30, 2006 at 5:30 in Town Hall, Lower Level Conference Room 2.

4. New Business

   Committee member Ellen Layman questioned whether there was a contract between the Town and the WVAA and also about the back up plan for commercial ambulance provision. Committee member George Bashura agreed to check with WVAA and Asst. to the Town Manager Palmer will check with the Town Manager.

5. Adjournment

   The meeting was adjourned at 7:48 PM.
