TOWN OF WETHERSFIELD COMMITTEE ON CULTURE AND THE ARTS
MINUTES OF SEPTEMBER 11, 2006

Members present: Jeanne Ciotto, Mary-Beth Dobmeier, Rita Doyle, Liz Kirkpatrick, Sandy Mulcahy, Frances Patti, Ruth Ann Schumaker and Patricia Viani.

The meeting was called to order at 7:15 p.m. Pat made a motion to accept the minutes of the June 5, 2006 meeting as read. Jeanne seconded the motion.

Treasurer's Report:

• Sandy reported that we have a balance of $5837.40 in the Escrow Account. There is $1000.00 in the General Fund.
• We have $644.00 in the Scholarship Fund. There are no outstanding bills.

New Business:

• Pat received some mail which she passed around. She received agendas and minutes from the Wethersfield Tourism Commission for the months of June, July and August. The Commission requested that we notify them of any programs that we are planning. Their email address is www.historicwethersfield.org.
• Pat also received a letter from the Town providing notification of a September 12th meeting regarding representation for Boards and Commissions. Liz will attend the meeting which will be held in the Police Department building.
• We received a brochure from the Knights of Columbus in New Haven regarding an Easter Eggs and Arts Exhibit which runs until October 9, 2006.
• Pat will call Kathy Bagley to see if we can help with a Children's Program. Perhaps there is something else we can help with.
• Pat received a call from Tony Allen who wants to perform at one of our concerts. She also received information from Symphony Orchestra and Moxie. We will discuss future programs at our next meeting. At the June meeting Ellen Spraitlin raised the possibility of using the Town Green for an event when the new Bed and Breakfast opens in Old Wethersfield.
• Pat asked whether everyone still agreed with the appointments made in June. That is: Pat was appointed Chairperson, Mary-Beth Vice Chairperson, Sandy Treasurer, Ruth Ann and Dawn Publicity, Liz and Ellen Events Coordinators and I Secretary.

Publicity:

• No additional new matters were reported.

Old Business:

• At our October meeting, we will discuss programs for the following year. Matt Catalano at Wethersfield Health Care has expressed interest in sponsoring a program. Pat will call him to see if he is still interested in sponsoring a Program.

The meeting adjourned at 8:15 p.m.

IMPORTANT PLEASE NOTE; the next meeting which is scheduled for Monday, October 9th, at 7:00 p.m. will be held at Sandy's home at 454 Coppermill Road.
