The meeting was called to order at 7:10 p.m.
The minutes from the January meeting were reviewed and accepted.
DSYS Update
- Nancy Stilwell
- Stuff A Bus - April 30, 2007
- Department budget submitted
- ROPE - 8% of DSYS's budget
- Task Force - meeting scheduled for next with Wethersfield and Rocky Hill Youth Services departments.
Youth Advisory Board
- SDMS based initiative- compiled ideas included a softball game(parents/teachers vs. students), selling pizza, and t-shirts. A possible fair process with possibility of being held at Mill Woods Park and necessary permits are needed. This event is scheduled for May 5,12,19, and June 21, 2007 with a raindate. This event will be advertised in the newspaper, t.v. and local newspaper.
- Youth in Government - Natalie Kotkin
- Meeting - Natalie wrote another letter of request to Mr. Proctor - TBD and is still waiting for for an update.
- YAB meeting date change - April 5, 2007 has been changed to April 12, 2007 due to a religious holiday conflict. Room and location request - TBD.
Future Projects
- Vintage Prom update and report- Shortage of dresses, the DSYS is accepting dresses until day of event scheduled for February 13,14,15, 2007 from 2-4:30pm at the WHS Lecture Hall. There will be posters with the event being advertised for attractions.
- Volunteer Recognition Night - May 3, 2007 @7pm at the Community Center in the Banquet Room with 1/2 of the banquet room designated for the event.
- Full/Guest Speaker - TBD
- Student speakers - 5-6 students needed
- Cake to celebrate the volunteer event.
- Prizes - TBD
Other Business
- Superintendent - surveys were passed out and due on February 9, 2007.
- Community of Concern - Barbara Ruhe - PTSA.
- Heather Zottola - is moving out of town and has announced that she'll be resigning from the Board.
