The meeting was called to order at 7:01 p.m.

The minutes from the March meeting were reviewed and accepted.

DSYS Update

Nancy Stilwell -
1. Stuff a Bus - SDMS on 4-30-2007 Non perishable foods to stock up the Wethersfield Food Bank
2. 2/07 - CYS - Dept of Ed - misunderstanding of $ OPM $2,000.00 (Town) $28,000.00 (TriTown kick off) lead to leadership for kids/officials(Leadership Mentoring)
3. 6-8-07 Challenge Course @ SDMS
4. Andy K. - Avon rep. Prom event to be cosponsored.
5. David Shinn Scholarship Award - 2 graduating seniors that have demonstrated outstanding community service. Ceremony - 6-11-07 @ 5pm @ Solomon Wells House
6. White Board - a needed request for the DSYS use in the Conference Room.

Youth Advisory Board

SDMS based initiative-
- 5/5/07 with a raindate - 5/19/07 MillWoods - Field #1 Parks/Rec - equipment used(bats, whiffle balls, bases, and balls) Food(hamburgers/hotdogs/soda/chips) range from $1.00-$1.50
- Food served @ 11:30 - 2pm , 5-3-07 & 5-4-07 pick up items @ Community Center
- Advertisement - p. a system, flyers, word of mouth, etc.
- 2 teachers/ parents are needed to host event, $$$$ - TBD(cost coverages)
- A sign up sheet was created with a list of interested individuals would like to help out with the
  - SDMS Whiffleball/Softball game on 5-5-07 @ 11am
  - SDMS - International Pasta dinner - 5-26-07
Youth in Government - Natalie Kotkin - N/A
Police Youth Report - Alison Sullivan -
- Officer David Gove - WHS complaints on unsecured property (cell phones, bikes, etc) are stolen every day on WHS grounds as well as vandalism.
- Officer Thomas Regen - WHS complaints in regards to statutory rape.

Future Projects

Vintage Prom - March 6,7, & 8 @WHS - was a successful event. Gowns, shoes, and accessories were sold with a $20.00 proceed to the YAB.
Volunteer Recognition Night - 5/3/07 @ 7pm - Community Center Banquet Room 600 invitations (postcards) are being mailed out. Confirmation of surveys, guest, students and senior speakers are being compiled. Cupcakes/ sheet cakes, door prizes and raffle prizes are needed for the event.

Other Business

There will be no minutes for the May 3, 2007 meeting due to Volunteer Recognition Night event. The next YAB meeting will be June 7, 2007 when new officers are elected for the 2007-2008 YAB year!
