MINUTES
February 16, 2007
Eleanor Buck Wolf Nature Center, Wethersfield, CT
In attendance: Cindy Jacobs, Ginny Judson, and Judy Parker. Also in attendance: Christopher Shepard. Absent: Will Holden and Paul Lombardo.
Ginny called the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m.
- Minutes: Judy moved to approve the 1/10/07 meeting minutes. Cindy seconded. Unanimously approved.
- Public Comments: None.
- Energy Conservation Strategies: Cindy reported Mr. McCarthy is almost done gathering data for Bill Leahy for benchmarking the schools. A potential goal could be for each building to strive to be an "Energy Star" school.
Cindy spoke with staff implementing the Board of Education's behavior modification strategy. It has achieved cost savings. She will learn more about the consulting firm that helped the Board with this strategy.
Cindy and Ginny reviewed some available "green building" programs.
- Connecticut Clean Energy Options Program: Ginny reported there are 106.5 sign-ups to date.
- Community Innovations Grant Program: Ginny will start to draft goals and criteria.
- Publicity: Tabled.
- Renewable Energy Earned: Ginny and Christopher reviewed the next steps for receiving the first earned PV array. First, Clean Energy Fund will provide a presentation on the program and the PV array. Discussed potential attendees list and possible dates. Christopher will work to set it up.
Second, a Clean Energy Fund consultant will analyze up to five potential sites for suitability. Discussed possible sites. Judy and Ginny will tour them, and Christopher will ask Mike Turner and Mo McCarthy for suggestions.
Third, when a site has been selected, there is a MOU for installation of the PV array. Christopher will ask Clean Energy Fund staff about options for banking credits until ready to install the PV array.
- Renewable Energy Purchased: Ginny reported on efforts to have Sterling Planet and Community Energy present information to the Town Council's Budget Committee on options for purchasing clean energy. To date, Community Energy is scheduled to present on February 26. Cindy will research other possible options such as purchasing credits or offsets, too.
- Announcements: The Home Show will be held at the Connecticut Convention Center March 2-4.
Energize Connecticut, an outreach program of Speaker of the House Amann, will conduct a public session co-hosted by Representative Morin March 19.
- New Business: Cindy asked Christopher to investigate the status of any reimbursements received from CL&P.
Cindy moved to adjourn. Judy seconded. Approved unanimously. The meeting adjourned at 6:45 p.m.
