TOWN OF WETHERSFIELD COMMITTEE ON CULTURE AND ARTS
MAY 14, 2007
Members present: Jeanne Ciotto, Mary-Beth Dobmeier, Rita Doyle, Jean Galinsky, Liz Kirkpatrick, Sandy Mulcahy, Frances Patti, Ruth Ann Schumaker, Ellen Spratlin and Pat Viani.
The meeting was called to order at 7:05 p.m. Pat made a motion to accept the minutes of the March 12, 2007 meeting. Seconded by Ruth Ann.
Treasurer's Report:
- Pat received a check for $100 from UNICO which Sandy will deposit.
- There is $964 in the Scholarship Fund; $320 was collected at the February cabaret. There is $5,837.04 in the Escrow Account. One bill of $48 was incurred for custodial services for the cabaret.
Scholarship Committee:
- Jeanne Ciotto reported that Gretchen Wagner is our scholarship recipient this year. A letter notifying her of this was sent two weeks ago. She was invited to our June 11th meeting.
New Business:
- Pat introduced Jean Galinsky, our newest member, to the committee.
Mail:
- A thank you letter was sent to Tony Martino, Treasurer, UNICO, for the $100 donation.
- A brochure from "Jus Us' was passed around for the committee's perusal.
- Information received from the Greater Arts Council, "Connecting with Communities" was shared with the members.
- Pat received a call from Tony Allen inquiring about our concerts.
Old Business:
- Pat requested that committee members notify the person in charge of a particular meeting if they cannot attend that meeting since we did not have a quorum for the April meeting.
- Ellen reported that she heard from Ben Altman who will perform on Sunday, October 7th at 4:00 p.m. His fee is $1,000 which includes his singer, "Honey." Ellen will request something in writing from him.
- Ellen has reserved the showmobile for the event. Publicity for the event will be in included in the publicity for the House Tour. Ruth Ann will provide flyers to be posted around town.
- Pat thanked Liz, Fran and Rita for participation in the Children's Performance at the High School on March 31st.
The meeting adjourned at 7:55 p.m. The next meeting will be held on June 11th at Ruth Ann's home. A list was passed around to members asking them to bring an appetizer or dessert.
