The Eleanor Buck Wolf Nature Center is an ecology education and community center devoted to helping Connecticut residents explore and understand the natural world. The Town of Wethersfield Parks & Recreation Department operates the center with support from members and volunteers.

The EBW Nature Center features live animals, hands-on exhibits, and a reading/game corner. While there is no admission fee there is a suggested donation of $3. Become a Friend of the EBW Nature Center and enjoy unlimited FREE admission!

The EBW Nature Center is located at the entrance to Mill Woods Park. After visiting the EBW Nature Center consider taking a hike along the wooded trails, exploring the wildflower meadow, or packing a picnic lunch and enjoying the playground.

Numerous educational programs are offered both on- and off-site for audiences of all ages. Have a child enrolled in elementary school? Consider enrolling them in a school vacation or summer camp program. Have a child who has yet to start school? Consider enrolling yourself and your child in a parent and child nature school program. Want to participate in something together as a family? Then sign up for our meteor shower parties. Current programs are listed in the Parks and Rec Program Guide as well as under the appropriate additional links found on this webpage. Guided visits for classes, home schoolers, scouts, special needs, and adults also may be arranged through the office.

The center also supports a number of community functions. Space is available for birthday parties, meetings, and special events.

The town established the Wethersfield Nature Center in 1974, operating from the Community Center and Wintergreen Woods Preserve. The Moeller Memorial Home, built in 1930, was renovated to house the center in 2005. It was rechristened in memory of lifelong resident and author, artist, and advocate for natural preservation, Eleanor Buck Wolf.

Today the Eleanor Buck Wolf Nature Center is operated with funds from members, donors, programs, and the town with assistance from many volunteers and the Friends of the Eleanor Buck Wolf Nature Center, Inc.
