8/4/2015 - 'National Night Out' Aug. 4 at Mill Woods Park

The Wethersfield Police Department will be hosting a National Night Out event on Tuesday, August 4, 2015. The event is scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m. at Mill Woods Park. The Town of Wethersfield will join over 15,000 other communities in all fifty states in this national event. In all, over 37 million people are expected to participate in this event.

National Night Out is designed to strengthen neighborhood and community spirit, heighten crime and drug prevention awareness and generate support for, and participation in, local anticrime efforts.

The annual event is always well attended.

"This is an excellent opportunity for our residents, families, community leaders and officers to get together and reinforce the common goals we share, namely to show we want safe neighborhoods and show that Wethersfield is a great place to live and work. Wethersfield's participation in National Night Out is another example of the police-community partnership that we strive to continuously strengthen." said Lt. Donald Crabtree, Wethersfield Police Department, Support Services Bureau Commander.

National Project Coordinator Matt Peskin said "National Night Out has proven to be an effective, inexpensive and enjoyable program to promote neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships in our fight for a safer nation."

There will be food, drinks, music, prizes, games, and activities for families and persons of all ages. There will also be free child fingerprinting and identification photos.

Along with officers from the Wethersfield Police Department, there will also be persons from the town Parks and Recreation Department, Wethersfield Volunteer Fire Department, Fire Marshal's office and Wethersfield Volunteer Ambulance Association at the event. All residents are encouraged to attend.
