Planning / Economic Development

The Planning and Economic Development Department is responsible for promoting the Town as an attractive location for new businesses, retaining and expanding our valued existing businesses and increasing the tax base and employment opportunities in Wethersfield. Staff works closely with the Wethersfield Chamber of Commerce and responds to development-related proposals and inquiries. The Department maintains socio-economic and land use data and uses such information to promote economic development and undertake planning for other needs in the community. The Planning and Economic Development Department provides technical assistance and administrative services to the Planning and Zoning Commission, the Economic Development and Improvement Commission, the Design Review Advisory Committee, the Tourism Commission and the Redevelopment Agency.
