- Please take advantage and attend the upcoming meeting on January 31, 2012 on the revision to the Plan of Conservation and Development. The meeting will be held at the Community Center at 7 p.m. It will be the most fun you ever had at a public meeting.
- Farmington Bank formally opened on Thursday of this week. They presented checks from their charitable foundation to the Wethersfield Historical Society ($1,250), the Webb Deane Stevens Museum ($1,250) and the Wethersfield Fuel Bank ($5,000). Farmington Bank is a terrific addition to Wethersfield and many thanks for the generous donations.
- The Governor announced a new initiative to place capital region venues such as the XL Center, Rentschler Field, and the Convention Center to better coordinate their activities and long term viability. A copy of the press release is included with this report.
- Upcoming Events
- Everyone is encouraged to visit the town's web site at http://wethersfieldct.com to see the latest announcements and schedule of events and meetings.
- A Public Meeting will be held on Tuesday, January 31, 2012 at 7 p.m. at the Community Center to get public input on the upcoming revision of the Plan of Conservation and Development. The town is asking for help from the public to identify important issues and priorities in Wethersfield.

- COST
- The office of Governor Dan Malloy has officially notified COST that he will address town leaders attending the COST annual conference—Connecticut's Town Meeting 2012—on February 22 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel and Conference Center in Cromwell.
- Towns-Helping-Towns (THT) is a COST membership service for first selectmen, mayors and managers from smaller communities throughout Connecticut. If you have a municipal management question or challenge, you may e-mail your specific question to COST and they will distribute it statewide to our colleagues. Other town leaders might have helpful feedback or resources to share or suggest.

- Wethersfield Neighbor to Neighbor Energy Workshop: The Wethersfield Neighbor to Neighbor Energy Challenge, along with 12 other local community groups, have come together to provide residents with a workshop on how to decrease their home energy bills and energy consumption while increasing the comfort of their homes. This free workshop will be available in Wethersfield from 6–7:30 p.m. on Thursday, January 24 in the Wethersfield Library's Community Room. More information attached.
- UNICO Macaroni Dinner: The 33rd Annual UNICO "Famous" Macaroni Dinner will be Sunday, February 12th from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Pitkin Community Center. Tickets are $9 for adults and $4 for children. It's an all you can eat dinner. Macaroni, meatballs, garlic bread, salad, soda, wine, coffee and ice cream. Funds raised go towards supporting local youth sports groups, sending needy kids to camp, Christmas gifts for needy children, CT National Guard Foundation and scholarships. Tickets can be purchased at the door or from any UNICO member.
- Chamber of Commerce: Attached is the January 2012 Newsletter featuring upcoming events.
- The Town of Wethersfield is providing three locations for residents to drop off their Christmas trees. They may be dropped off at Mill Woods Park near the Skate Park, the Transfer Station on Marsh Street (open Monday and Friday 9 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. and Saturday 8 a.m. to 3:45 p.m.), and in the parking lot of Willard Pool on Greenfield Street. Trees may be dropped off until January 31, 2012. The Town of Wethersfield will not be picking up Christmas trees curbside. - Christmas Tree Pick-Up Options: The WHS band will pick up old Christmas trees curbside each Saturday in January, 2012 for a $10 donation. Call (860) 721-8854 to schedule. Cub Scout Pack 51 is picking up trees again this year. A $10 donation is suggested. To schedule a pickup, please call (860) 462-9257 or e-mail wethersfieldpack51@gmail.com.
